Sunflower for Grandma

This week's Stamp Simply Challenge features a sassy sunflower: courtesy of Spellbinder's Shapeabilities (Sunflower Set One from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store)! Our challenge for this week (ssnotime137)was to create a three dimensional blossom however we would like!

I also wanted to show you Our Daily Bread design's "Grandma" sentiment, from their April release "Mom" set...isn't the font pretty?

The sunflower petals and base of my card were created with October Afternoon's "The Thrift Shop" pad, also available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. This 8 X 8" decorator paper pad is so sweet, chuck full of vintage prints! They remind me of vintage flour sacks...you know, the printed kind that women used to make recycle and make dish towels and such from?

In addition: a center of Bazzill "Nutmeg" textured paper, and a SU "Old Olive" leaf, finishes this sunny bloom.

I cannot wait to see what the rest of the Stamp Simply Challenge team has come up with! Check them out:

Little House on the Prairie

Here's one of the designs that I created for the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club, when I was serving my time as a Dirty Girl...I named it "Little House on the Prairie." This design was created to fit the sketch challenge for March, 2009.

I've loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder series since I was a young girl. Even now, the books bring back fond memories from my early days of reading.

My husband and I recently visited DeSmet, South Dakota, where four of the Little House Books were written, beginning with "On the Shores of Silver Lake." We visited two of the places that the Ingalls family had lived, and also stopped at the homestead of Laura and Almanzo. What a fun trip! While there, I purchased the entire set of hard cover books for the "library" that I'm building for my future grandchildren.

Onto the card: the designer paper used here was Stampin' Up's retired Sweet Slumber and Parisian Breeze Specialty papers; NO ink (gasp!), and Foof-a-La buttons threaded with embroidery floss and narrow May Arts silk ribbon (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).

If you have not read the "Little House on the Prairie" books, be certain to pick them up from your library...they are so very special...even for adults!!!

Stamp Simply Joy Fold Card

Welcome to Stamp Simply Challenge 136: Create a "Joy Fold Card"! I followed this Splitcoaststampers.com tutorial by Beate Johns...check it out, and try one--it's totally fun!

My design features Our Daily Bread design's new set, "Mom."

BoBunny's "Flamingo Double Dot" two sided decorator paper worked just great for this design. The fresh and pretty dots, along with a bit of chunky SU glitter bling, make for a pretty in pink project.

I stamped, Copic colored, and trimmed the pretty swag from the ODBD set, then set it in place with dimensional tape.

Versafine Black Onyx ink
was used for the "Mom" sentiment, as well as the Proverbs 81:25-26 verse in the flap of the small fold.

A corner punch, and lush May Arts Silk Ribbon (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) finish this design for Mom.

An Ultra Fine Flower Soft Flower

Have you considered the different ways that you can use Flower Soft? Our Flower Soft Design Team is working to show you the ways today!

I've used Flower Soft as borders, cover for chipboard, on brads, and on Prima flowers...I love the extra special touch is adds to blossoms!

The above blossom is from Prima's "Innoscence Collection." The Ultra Fine Raspberry Fizz Flower Soft dresses up the solid cream flower, adding both color and texture. Doesn't it look like an Oriental Stargazer lily now?

I love this fresh We R Memory Keepers Vintage Blue "Blueberry Hill" designer paper. The madras plaid print with jewel toned colors gives such a summery feel.

A bit of May Art's Light Fushia velvet rick rack (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) adds additional color.

Happy Father's Day!!!

Father's Day is around the corner, and here's a quick and easy (yet pretty sharp!) design suitable for any father or male in your life!

The features of this manly design are from Our Daily Bread design's "Happy Father's Day" and Stamp Simply's Graphic 45 "A Proper Gentleman" kit.

Take a closer look at this fabulous decorator paper...just perfect to layer up into a fast design!

My Father's Day sentiment from ODBD is stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink, then die cut with a Spellbinder Long Rectangle die.

A bit of May Art's striped ribbon from the Stamp Simply Graphic 45 "A Proper Gentleman" kit finishes the design.

Like I promised...quick and easy!

Have a wonderful week!

A Stamp Simply Color Challenge!!!

We have a color challenge for this week's Stamp Simply Challenge (ssnotime135)! Colors being: shades of purple/lavenders and browns/tans/ivory.

This Mother's Day image and sentiment is from Our Daily Bread design's April release: "Happy Mother's Day."

I stamped the wreath onto cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, then colored it with numerous Copic markers. I cut the wreath out, then popped it up with dimensional dots.

The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink, then heat embossed. I was a bit concerned about stamping onto the Bazzill textured paper, but found it worked just fine. The other pretty lavender colored paper is KaiserCraft's "Lilac Avenue" 6 X 6" pad (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).

A beautiful double Lavender/Taupe May Art Silk bow, tied with a Bow Easy (both from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), adds a pretty touch.

Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Blog Hop (& candy...)!

Hi there! Welcome to April's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Design Team Blog Hop! Our challenge this month is to create a design using one of the new, pretty JustRite flower sets--along with a monogram!

The JustRite products that I am focusing on today are: "Beautiful Blossoms," and the "Special Occasions Monogram Stamper Kit." Both of these sets are available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I began with a base of Graphic 45's "Le Romantique Collection" paper, distressing all edges for a worn look. This very pretty designer paper pad is available as a kit (Stamp Simply Graphic 45 Le Romantique Collection), or individually at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

The narrow May Art Ivory Crocheted ribbon also comes as part of the "Le Romantique Collection" kit. I threaded some narrow 1/4" Ivory May Art's silk ribbon through the center of the lace before securing it to my design.

Using the daisy bouquet from JustRite's Beautiful Blossoms set, I stamped and Copic colored my background panel. Additional distressing and speckling give it a somewhat aged look.

The "K" monogram from the Special Occasions Monogram Stamper kit was stamped with Versafine Sepia ink, then die cut with a Spellbinder's Petite Circle die, both items from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

After a bit of subtle edging from a Copic marker, I mounted the monogram on a bow of wide May Art's Ivory Silk ribbon, tied with a Bow Easy.

I hope that you enjoyed my design today! Be sure to check out the rest of the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Design Team, as well as Sharon's blog (you can read about the BLOG CANDY there too!) the home of the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Stamp Simply Graduation or Year End Designs

Hi there! The Stamp Simply (ssnotime134) Challenge for this week is to create either a graduation or year end design--I went with an extremely "stamp SIMPLE" thank you card for a favorite teacher or school employee.

October Afternoon's "Report Card" decorator paper pad, available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, fits the bill perfectly here.

A Spellbinder apple die from the"Assorted Fresh Fruit"set, Spellbinder Tags Trio/PaperTrey Ink Limited Edition "Simple Little Things" sentiment, and May Arts Natural Twine (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) tie this design up!

Flower Soft Moments in Time

Hi! So happy to have you join us today! We're hopping at Flower Soft, featuring the Moment's in Time stamp sets and toppers! The set that I have used for today's hop is "Best Friends."

Isn't this little gal and teddy adorable? I've stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a heavy white cardstock, then colored it with Copic markers. After die cutting it with Spellbinder Petite Oval and Scalloped dies, I added Sage and Toffee Ultrafine Flower Soft onto the grassy area and teddy bear body.

The designer paper used here is Basic Grey's "Green at Heart" paper pad. A grosgrain bow, Basic Grey button, and May Art twine finish this design.

Make sure that you check out the next stop on the hop:

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things!

I hope that you all had a Blessed Easter...filled with worship, family, and friends! We had a wonderful day, having dinner at our home! We also had a fabulous vacation...visiting dear friends in South Dakota! Thanks again Kathie and Mike!

Today is the last day of Spring/Easter vacation...tomorrow, back to school. So, it is time to get back into the swing of things!

Here's a quick and simple Mother's Day design for you. Gorgeous Bazzill textured, raised Polka Dot cardstock makes for a fresh and pretty base. I purchased the cardstock in Sioux Falls, SD--I hadn't seen this texture previously, so excitedly purchased quite a few colors!

Another pretty accent is this cream colored Innoscence Collection Prima--also purchased in South Dakota. I applied the Prima directly from the package to my design, yet believe that these Primas would be perfect to alter with color (look forward to seeing them again!).

A border of Martha Stewart's Wide Flower Bed punch with a self border of dp adds a bit more interest.

The final touch to my design is an Our Daily Bread design's new April release sentiment from the "Happy Mother's Day" set. The little bee is a part of that set as well...I stamped the sentiment/bee with Versafine Sepia ink, then colored the bee and border around the tag with a Copic marker. I then used a Copic blender marker to fade the Copic coloring a bit. A touch of fine glitter, applied then rubbed off, adds a subtle gleam the the bee's wings.

Have a great week! Spring is here!

EDITED:Our Daily Bread design's New Release and April Fools Day Fun!

EDITED TO ADD: The cat's out of the bag! This was my design for the April Fool's Day release over at Our Daily Bread designs! I was casing Randi Barrett--specifically her 3 French Hens card here.

I used the new ODBD "Happy Father's Day" set, along with Graphic 45 dp.

Here's a closeup of the Copic coloring!

This beauty was created by Dawn Lusk, casing me! Isn't it lovely?

What great fun for April Fool's Day! Be sure to check out the fabulous new sets over at

Also, keep your eye on the ODBD blog Saturday!
We will find out if anyone, or who, made the correct guesses on the designs!
You may be a winner!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to Our Daily Bread design's April Release--which just happens to fall on April Fool's Day! The design team members at Our Daily Bread designs have been up to a bit of fun!!! If you have arrived here from Randi's blog, you are in the correct place!
Four new sets are being released today, all featuring images, verses, and sentiments for Mother's and Father's Day.
For today's New Release at ODBD, we are not doing a "formal Blog Hop", but the team has all posted a card using the new sets and are linking each other in their posts. There are no secret words or letters to collect.
However, just like in a blog hop, there will be prizes for viewing every DT's blog, leaving comments on all those you can, and returning to the ODBD Blog to tell us you have done so. Two winners will be randomly chosen from those who do this, and they will each receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps from the ODBD Store.
You have until 8PM Eastern on April 2 to complete these requirements.
Now for the fun part!!!
Today being April Fool's Day, we decided it would be fun to play a little game with the new release sets. We each cased another DT member and then sent our card to that person to post on their blog today. The fun is going to be to see how well Kelley really knows her team, because she is being asked to guess who created which card. She is being asked to make a list of each DT member and write next to their name who she thinks made the card they posted. It's all just in fun, but if you'd like to play along, we'd love to have you! You can email your guesses to Grace at: gnywening@yahoo.com up until 8PM Eastern on April 2. ONLY ONE email please! The one or ones (in the case of a tie) who correctly guessed the most will be given recognition on the ODBD Blog when all the entries have been checked.
The card above was created using:
Our Daily Bread designs "Mom" set, SEI Jocelyn dp, Prism white, Glimmer Mist-Honey Dew, Copics, White Gel pen, Martha Stewart Punch, Bow Easy, Ribbon, Foam Mounting Tape, Spellbinders oval.
Now to continue the fun, here are the next stops after me:
