Stamp Simply Color Challenge!

We have a color challenge for this week's Stamp Simply Challenge (ssnotime154)--to use turquoise and orange. Here's the inspiration color photo...a boy's bedroom.

My design is in turquoise and orange, and features a young "fella" (complete with dirty knees!) that might just live in this bedroom!

This truly was a "Stamp Simply" design...I had colored the image previously, so was able to fashion a quick and easy card.

The card base is Stampin' Up Tangerine Tango, the striped decorator paper, KaiserCraft's "Devonshire" (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).

I stamped the My Favorite Things "Pure Innocence" image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Stamp Simply Ribbon store), then colored it with numerous Copic markers.

Dimensional tape was used to mount the image panel over the crimped/jumbo eyelet borders (Stampin' Up).

Puppy Love

This week's Stamp Simply Challenge (ssnotime153) is "Pleated Ribbon." I am also submitting this design to this week's Shabby Tea Room's Challenge, "Delicate Cottage Rose," found here.

The base of my card is Stampin' Up's "Pretty in Pink," with the top layer run through my CuttleBug using Stampin' Up's new "Square Lattice" Impression plate.

I stamped my Sarah Kay's "Fanny's Cuddle" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored her with numerous Copic markers.

Spellbinder Petite Oval dies (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) were used to create the image panel, along with a distressing tool all around.

The star of this design is most certainly the lovely pink May Art's Silk ribbon, available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Some Prima Mini Roses finish this pleated design.

Check out the rest of the Stamp Simply Challenge Team to see what they have "up their sleeves..."

and
Charlene Driggs, August Guest Designer!

I'm heading out of town for the weekend to attend a Copic Class led by the ever talented and inspiring Debbie Olson! You can see her gorgeous work HERE.

My New Stamping Space

Hello! I'm a very busy lady this week, and I wanted to show you why...my new stamping space is finally finished!!! I am so very excited to begin moving in!

It's a lovely, light filled space (this pic was taken while quite overcast and rainy), and measures 13' X 15', windows facing south and west.

Here it is...

We decided to add an addition onto our home. The house was originally built in the early 1900s when my husband's grandparents arrived from Finland.

My husband, along with the help of my father, sons, and friends, built the entire add on--doing everything, from the foundation...up! We began in the late summer, 2008.

The space includes: my "studio" (which will become our bedroom when we become elderly), a bathroom, pantry, laundry room, sauna, and full woodworking shop in the basement below for my husband.

Our intent was to create new workspace now, which will one day becoming one level living for when we are elderly.

The view to my garden and closet with no doors.

We tried to maintain a vintage feel by using old, reclaimed doors, knobs and hardware...all which my husband worked so very hard to make suitable! He did a great job!!!

I'll be showing you more pics of the space after it is filled, as well as of the rest of the new rooms.

Now you can see why I will not be posting as much in the near future, though I will be back on Wednesday for my "Every Wednesday in August" blog candy drawing, and on Friday for the Stamp Simply Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamp Simply Ribbon Scrap Challenge!

Our Stamp Simply Challenge (ssnotime152) for this week is "Ribbon Scraps": show interesting ways to use up some of those itty bitty bits of ribbon!

My design features Graphic 45's "Halloween in Wonderland," available by kit or separately from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Image panels were layered onto a black cardstock base, leaving space for a "hanging" banner.

I first tried to simply cut triangles from ribbon scraps (all May Art's Striped from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) to create the banner, but found the ribbon frayed easily. My solution: run a short strip of ribbon through an Xyron "Create a Sticker," stick it to a strip of cardstock, THEN cut your triangle from the stickered ribbon/cardstock. It still has the potential to fray (if roughed up), but far less so.

I then glued a piece of May Art's Ivory Twine to the back of the triangles to create the hanging effect. The banner triangles are actually dimensionally taped down, with the twine wrapped and taped to the back.

Stampin' Up's "Rough Type" was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx for a sentiment of "BOO," then sponged with SU Creamy Caramel ink.

A Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie corduroy button, thread through with May Art's Black Twine, adds an upper corner accent.

Be sure to head to see what the rest of the Stamp Simply Challenge team has done with their ribbon scraps!

Autumn Splendor Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Blog Hop!

Yes, it's time once again for the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Blog Hop! Today, we're looking forward to crisp, fall-time temperatures along with the abundant harvests and gorgeous colors of the Autumn season!

AND... TWO (2)! chances at TWO (2) different blog candies...more about that below!

My simple and quick autumn design features leafy dies from Spellbinder's Assorted Leaves (NO stamping today!), available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. This set includes four different leaves in assorted sizes...my favorite being the oak leaf.

I die cut the three oak leaves from a textured, nutmeg brown cardstock, then layered the three onto panels of KaiserCraft "Up, Up and Away"Collection (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).

May Art's Ivory Twill (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) and a copper brad finish this quick and clean lined card.

ONCE AGAIN: We do have blog candy! It's a mystery where it is--you must leave comments on all of the blogs in the hop to have a chance at it! Read more about it at Sharon's blog...

Here's the list!

HE is Able Challenge!

This design is for the first "He IS Able Blog Challenge" found HERE.  The "He IS Able" blog is quite new, in fact, forty days old on Sunday!

The challenge is to take inspiration from the verses in Genesis about Noah's Ark. I chose to do a literal design featuring the Noah's Ark image from Our Daily Bread designs.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with several Copic Sketch markers. A Spellbinder Deckled Rectangle die was used to cut the image, which was then popped up with dimensional tape for height.

The decorator paper is Cosmo Cricket from Joan's Gardens, and the May Art's Striped Twill is from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Basic Grey buttons threaded with May Art's Ivory Twine (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) finish this challenge design.

Have a blessed Sunday, and be certain to stop by "He IS Able."

My One Layer "Wonder"

This week's Stamp Simply Challenge (ssnotime151)is brought to us by Barbara Anders: Make a ONE layer card! Me oh my...I'm in trouble! I typically do not use a LOT of layers, but always SOME!

This design also fits Splitcoaststampers "Free for All" challenge: to take inspiration from our gardens, floral or vegetable!

Well, I made my project, then reread the challenge to blog it, and of course, found a mistake on my part...this isn't exactly a card!!! It's meant to be a gift tag! Sorry, Barb! It is one layer only though!

I wanted to use this pretty brand new May Art's Pink Striped Twill from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store...so pretty in pink, and all sorts of other colors as well!

And, ahem...you may have noticed that lovely bow at the top? Well, bow tying is another challenge for me--my daughter in law, Jennifer, is an expert at bows--but let's just say that I totally depend on my "Bow Easy" to help me out when Jennifer isn't around!

This image is from one of Stampin' Up's Level One Hostess stamp sets: "Because I Care." I stamped the hydrangea with Memento Tuxedo Ink, then colored it with numerous Copic Sketch Markers.

A Spellbinder Petite Oval die was used to die cut the image, and a Krylon 18kt. Gold Leafing Pen (both from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) was used to rim the edge. Stampin' Up's Itty Bitty Background was also used with Creamy Caramel ink.

A brad from Michaels finishes this gift tag.
