Glassy Merry and Bright

Hello! I'm here today with a design that is "Merry and Bright" but also has a "glassy" touch...

This lovely paper is Graphic 45's "Winter Wonderland" and it certainly is wonderful. The beautiful prints include scenes with birds, forest chalets, poinsettias and holly berries...just lovely! Many of the prints have a nordic feel.

Here's the inside verse using Stamp Simply's Clear "Wonder of Christmas Sentiments." It is stamped with Versafine's Vintage Sepia ink, and die cut with a Spellbinder Classic Oval. I used a bit of a green Spica Glitter pen to fill in the word BRIGHT.

Now for the glassy part. I love the Cracked Glass Technique, but sometimes do it without the cracking--so I end up with a smooth, glassy finish. You can see the finish in the photo below:

You simply completely cover the image panel with Versamark Watermark pad; completely cover the watermarked panel with Ranger Ultra Thick UTEE Embossing Enamel Powder; then heat with your heat gun until the powder melts into "glass." This will not typically give you smooth results, so you need to complete the previous steps one or two more times.

Now, if you did want to crack it to distress it, you would put the image panel in the freezer for a few minutes, take it out and whack it against a table edge. This should result in a cracked effect, which you can then highlight by rubbing some distress ink into the cracks, such as Tim Holtz Distress Antique Linen or Tea Stain

I mounted my glassy image panel onto the background with Thermoweb 3D Foam Strips.

My card is finished with a Seam Binding Bow, created with an Original Bow Easy with this technique. Prima Say It in Crystals in "A Victorian Christmas" add a bit of sparkle. The Say It in Crystals comes with both sequins and crystals.

Thanks so much Edna! This is gorgeous paper. I do love that glassy look. Try it sometime with the cracks too...adds to a very vintage design!
