Mixed Media Coffee

Hello!

I hope your week is getting off to a great start! We have a long weekend here to celebrate Montenegro's independence. As the hubby went out hiking, I enjoyed a creative day with a friend... playing with a 10 x 10" stretched canvas and getting our fingers dirty!

Here's my design, featuring a number of Tim Holtz product:

I've always loved the look of mixed media collages, but have only made a handful myself.

I began by layering a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Wrap onto the prepared canvas with Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium.

I wanted to tone down the background so proceeded to brush some Dina Wakley Media Gesso over the surface. After the gesso dried, I stenciled a couple of different patterns onto the surface using Tim Holtz Schoolhouse Lettering and Crossed stencils, along with Dreamweaver Embossing Paste.

Distressing and a bit of color was added to the background using Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Vintage Photo, Black Soot, Antique Linen), Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, and DecoArt Metallic Lustre wax. Strips of Tim Holtz Distress "Elementary" Washi Tape added interest and was also used to wrap the sides of the canvas.

The coffee cups and saucer were die cut with Tim Holtz Coffee die (sorry, retired; another great die here, but a bit smaller--Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Coffee or Tea?) and Kaisercraft Art of Life decorator paper (also retired...using up my stash).  The "coffee" sentiment was die cut with Spellbinder Font 1 Uppercase Letter dies; the "time" sticker is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology "Big Chat Grand Discussion" sticker pad.

Additional highlights were created with a Farber Castell Pitt Big artist pen.

I hope that you have enjoyed my project for today; I was pretty pleased how it turned out and I had tons of fun creating it! See you back on Wednesday with my regular post... thanks for stopping by!
