Have you ever made a card and were unhappy with how it looked? Then you proceed to upload it to your gallery, even though you're having second thoughts?...It bugs you until you decide you MUST tear it apart to make improvements? This happens to me more that I would like to admit!!! LOL!!! I usually have a certain look that I'm aiming for when I begin. It's so frustrating when you are trying but not achieving "that" look.
For example: I began with the card right above the text. It was okay IRL-- but my photo just wasn't cutting it. I had sewn around the perimeter of the decorator paper-- didn't show in the photo-- the ribbon that I used looks a different color pink in the photo...argh!!!!
In my second attempt I chose to add more of the photo-discolored pink ribbon and added a sentiment. My sewing still does not show, but I feel happier with the end result!
This card was for today's Technique Challenge over at Splitcoast. We were to use Twinkling H2O's along with watercoloring pencils or crayons and the color pink to focus on Breast Cancer Awareness month. See the challenge here.
Stamps: Stampin' Up Bloomin; Beautiful, PaperTrey Ink Birthday Basics sentiment
Paper: Basic Grey Sugared, SU Pretty in Pink, Confetti Cream, watercolor paper
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, Lyra Aquacolors, Twinkling H2O's.
Accessories: Vintage buttons, Nestabilities, Dashes Dots and Checks Ribbon.
Have a wonderful day-- and remember-- tearing apart a card and making it right is worth it! :)

Ah! You had a time with this one Deb! I often upload cards to SCS that don't end up how I intended and I'm not sure I like them, weirdly these seem to be the cards that get most comments LOL! I think your card is so beautiful! Love your colouring and wonderful paper. Just a thought, and I hope you don't mind me mentioning but it looks like your photo has light coming onto it from the front. If you tried lighting it from above I think the details would come out more with less colour change. Ignore me if I'm not helping LOL! Chris
You bet I have, Deborah!! There were a couple of times I have redesigned and rephotographed and reloaded three times!!
I love your beautiful card!! It is stunning work!!
I also love the look of your blog!! As you can probably guess from the cards I often make, the rose is my all time favorite flower! And the one in your header to gorgeous!!
OK I love all of your cards so I don't really know what you are talking about!! Smiles to you!! BUT that so often happens to me that I have something in mind and the end result isn't even close to what I had originally planned. AND my favorite of your two cards is the one without the Happy Birthday on it!! Now what do you think of that!! Sooo I would say what one likes the other may not. Thanks for a wonderful blog I love visiting it everyday possible.
Deb, both of your cards are very pretty! But, I certainly know what you are talking about. I do it all the time and sometimes what I think is going to take a few minutes ends up taking me most of the day to get it the way I want it to look. Then there is always the challenge of the photo. I sure need some lessons there.
I love the colors you chose for this birthday card.

Wow Deb! Both of these cards are absolutely gorgeous! I do like the top one better though...I think the sentiment is just the right touch! You have no idea how many times I start and stop a card. That is why I'm always deliriously happy when I make a card in under 1/2 hour! LOL! That means I did it to my liking in the first attempt!
Both cards are just great, Deb, but I would have to say I really like the one on top with the sentiment added -- it just *finishes it off* so perfectly!! Great job!!!
Defintely feel your pain on cards not ending up as you intended! Both these are gorgeous. Love the one with the sentiment, and love those buttons.
Beautiful card. I love the dp and the trim! So vintagy looking!
So elegant and lovely, Deb--great job!
I like both versions, honestly. I couldn't pick a favorite and, believe me, I scrolled back and forth many times. They both have their virtues and they're absolutely beautiful. This has happened to me before many times, usually when I'm in a hurry. If I can walk away from a struggle and come back later it will usually come out right. I'm not very good about walking away, though.
