Here's one of the designs that I created for the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club, when I was serving my time as a Dirty Girl...I named it "Little House on the Prairie." This design was created to fit the sketch challenge for March, 2009.
I've loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder series since I was a young girl. Even now, the books bring back fond memories from my early days of reading.
My husband and I recently visited DeSmet, South Dakota, where four of the Little House Books were written, beginning with "On the Shores of Silver Lake." We visited two of the places that the Ingalls family had lived, and also stopped at the homestead of Laura and Almanzo. What a fun trip! While there, I purchased the entire set of hard cover books for the "library" that I'm building for my future grandchildren.
Onto the card: the designer paper used here was Stampin' Up's retired Sweet Slumber and Parisian Breeze Specialty papers; NO ink (gasp!), and Foof-a-La buttons threaded with embroidery floss and narrow May Arts silk ribbon (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store).
If you have not read the "Little House on the Prairie" books, be certain to pick them up from your library...they are so very special...even for adults!!!

Hi Deb~
What a great card! I LOVED
"Little House on the Prarie!" This card seems like a perfect connection to the show and books. They were always beating rugs or bedding outsite. And, I'm sure Caroline could fashion a quilt or
5. I do think Mrs. Olsen would be so very jealous of your paper quilt! I'm sure she would sew a square to her own dress!
I love your creativity! I haven't seen the sketch yet, but I am sure you match it perfectly!

Cute, cute, cute, Deb! I remember when you originally put this in the Fan Club collection. I loved the television series, which led me to read some of the books, too! How fun that you got to visit in South Dakota!
I TOTALLY understand how you feel about those books! I had the whole paperback set as a young girl, and lost them in one of my moves...I was upset that my girls wouldn't be able to enjoy them like I did! Recently, my DH and I went to a sale where the whole set was being sold...and now they are mine again! I spent the entire duration of the sale reading the first book! Great card! :)
