Prima Stencil Fun

Have you played with stencils and paste yet? What a fun way to add texture and dimension to your design! It really gives a distressed overall feel as well.

I began my design with a piece of chocolate brown printed paper from Kaisercraft's "Limelight" dp pad. The small print added some interest, but wasn't an overwhelming to apply the paste over.

I simply laid Prima's Designer Stencil 6x6 Lattice over the top and used a small artist spatula to frost over it with white Studio 490 Embossing Paste. I didn't cover the entire sheet, as you can see. After the paste dried (quicker than I thought!) I used Tim Holtz Distress ink in Antique Linen and Tea Dye to sponge additional color onto the texture.

I layered the entire panel onto a piece of paper from my stash, then proceeded to stamp and color the peony.

I stamped the LaBlanche Silicone Stamp "Framed Peony" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored it with Copic Sketch Markers. It is adhered with Thermoweb 3D Foam Squares.

A Gabriella Venise Lace border, along with a Seam Binding Ribbon bow (made with an Original Bow Easy!) finishes this design.

I must say that it looks much more charming IRL...I found it difficult to capture the dimension and old fashioned feel with my camera.

All linked supplies are from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

  2. Hi Deb-
I know it has been a long time since I have been able to leave a comment. I apologize. I have only been using my cell to look at blogs and couldn't figure out how to leave the comments! So, today it finally occurred to me to use my computer and try. I am so glad I did! This is beautiful! I can really see the texture used. And I am so glad you told us how you added color to the paste...I was unsure about that. The colors are just wonderful together! Seeing this makes me want to paste a whole wall in my art room. I pray that you and yours are well. I don't know where you are now. But you are in my prayers. God bless!
