Enjoy the Little Things

Sometimes the little things are the things that you miss most!
Today I'm missing the Christmas past when our Finnish grandmother would knit us mittens and socks as Christmas gifts. She shared her talent and love with us through these gifts,
and they have become cherished memories.

My card today features Stamp Simply's clear "Farmhouse Simple Sentiments" and a wintery mix of paper and embossing paste.

I began with a pair of mittens cut from Ranger Watercolor Cardstock.  After cutting, I used Tim Holtz' "Holiday Knit" Layering Stencil and Dreamweaver Embossing Paste to create the "knit" pattern on my mittens. After the embossing paste dried, I spattered Tim Holtz Distress Chipped Sapphire ink over the mitts.

I dyed the "cuffs" of the mitts (May Art's Ringlet Trim) using the Chipped Sapphire ink, then used narrow ScorTape to adhere them to the mittens.

The base and layers of the card are made up of Kaisercraft's "Wonderland" decorator paper. I stamped the Stamp Simply "Farmhouse Simple Sentiment" directly onto the patterned paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

A snowflake cut using Spellbinder's "Create a Flake Six" dies was glued onto the background using Tombow Aqua liquid glue, and the mittens were adhered using Thermoweb 3D Foam pieces. A trio of Melissa Frances white pearls finalize the design.

All linked supplies are from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Thank you Amy S.! I have handcut in the past, but this time I used a past year's die from Stampin' Up. Thanks so much for your kind comments!
