Father's Day

EDITED TO ADD: Check out Stamp Simply's NEW ONLINE STORE! Most of the items linked in this post can be found now at the new store. The previous Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is no longer online. New Stamp Simply can be found HERE.

HI! I'm here today with a Father's Day card using stamps, dies, and product from Stamp Simply! Somewhat grungy, but very masculine. Perfect for that special hard working, and caring dad.

I began by creating the base of the card using Bazzill's Mirrored Silver cardstock. I embossed the piece with Tim Holtz'/Sizzix "Mechanics" 3D Texture Fade Embossing folder. The piece was so shiny and pretty, but I knew it could not stay that way...

I grunged it up with a light coating of Versafine Onyx Black ink, wiping most of it away before it dried using paper towels and/or baby wipes. I also rubbed in a bit of DecoArt Metallic Lustre Wax onto the gears.

Play around with different inks and even acrylic paint until you get the grunginess that you desire...just be certain to wipe away most of the paint/archival type inks before they dry, as they will be permanent.

The metallic panel is layered over Tim Holtz/Bazzill Coredinations textured cardstock.

The all important sentiment for the card is from Stamp Simply's "All Occasions Sentiments Set Two" clear stamp set. This is one of my favorite sentiment sets from Stamp Simply. I love the fonts and the single line sentiments.

I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Watermark ink, then heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Silver embossing powder. A Stamp Simply "Fishtail Banner Sentiment Die" was used to die cut the sentiment.

A couple of gears from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Thinlet "Gearhead" die set were cut from the black and silver cardstock, then distressed in the same way as the base panel. Thermoweb 3D Foam and Scor-Tape were used throughout.

All linked supplies are from Stamp Simply.

I hope that you enjoy your springtime weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Such a great Father's Day card, Deb! I love the finish that you used on it! This card is great for a hard working Dad, or a Dad who tinkers with machines when he retires!

Blessings!

Thanks, Traci! Glad you like it...a manly man card...LOL. It will go to my father, who was a hard working fellow his entire life.
