Stamp Simply Ribbon Store's Mercy Stamp Set

Today's design features Stamp Simply Ribbon Store's clear "Mercy" stamp set, along with Prima's "Spring Farmhouse" decorator paper. I also used Tim Holtz Layering stencils to add a bit of texture to the background.

We recently returned from a trip to Italy and I was so taken with the beautiful stone carved architecture that we saw there. The muted colors and waxy painted and plastered surfaces also were so very appealing. I wanted to create a neutral design for today with a bit of texture to mimic that look of a bit of time worn history.

I began by stenciling on the decorator paper with Tim Holtz "Schoolhouse" and "Crossed" stencils with Dreamweaver's embossing paste. You can barely see the "Crossed" stenciling on the card as most of it was covered up with the bow and image panel.  I also rubbed the edge of the bee decorator paper image panel with the paste.

After the paste dried, I distressed the background further with Tim Holtz Distress Antique Linen and Vintage Photo inks, spattering and brushing on with a paint brush.

The bee image panel was layered over cardstock to make it sturdier, then popped up on the card base with Thermoweb 3D Foam pieces.

The bow here is made up of May Art's 1.25" Silk Variegated Ribbon. After forming the bow with an Original Bow Easy, I wet it with water and scrunched it up and let it dry. I wanted it to look vintage and wonderful, and was pleased at the result. Also, the varigated silk in Pink/Champagne matches the Spring Farmhouse decorator paper perfectly!

A border of May Art's 3/8" Crochet Lace Trim was added, glued down with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. Scor-Tape was also used in the design.

The Stamp Simply "Mercy" Bible verse was used inside the card, stamped upon a Stamp Simply Fishtail Banner Sentiment die cut with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. A bit more of the lace and ink spattering accent the Bible verse.

I hope that you have enjoyed my shabby design for today. All linked supplies are from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.
