Cheery and Bright

Here's an easy watercolor background design that is fun to paint. Love the rainbow color and yummy "thinking of you"
wild strawberries.

The stamps featured today are from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store's clear "Fruit of the Spirit," and "Fruit" clear stamp sets.

I began with a panel of Ranger Watercolor paper, then water color painted on stripes of Tim Holtz Distress ink (Candied Apple, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Peeled Paint, Seedless Preserves) using a wide, fairly dry brush.

I dabbed the ink pad onto my palette, then used the brush to add water to the distress ink. After completing each stripe, I cleaned the brush with water, squeezing it in a paper towel to get most of the moisture out. After laying down the first layer of colors, I dabbed the edge of each ink pad on the wet stripe of same color, adding a darker layered tint to the watercolored wash.

After the watercolor panel dried completely, I stamped the sentiment from the "Fruit of the Spirit" stamp set directly onto it using Versafine Onyx Black ink and a stamp platform.

I also stamped a couple of strawberries from the "Fruit" stamp set onto the watercolor paper, and painted those with the same Distress ink as above. After they dried, I fussy cut them to add to the watercolored panel.

The image panel is layered onto a piece of black cardstock to frame the bright colors. Adhesives used: Tom Bow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and Scor-Tape.

Here's the inside of the card, with a Bible verse about the "Fruit of the Spirit" from the "Fruit of the Spirit" stamp set.
