Vintage Postcard Christmas Card

Hello! I wanted to show you a design that I worked on over the weekend...using, yes...a vintage postcard that dates from the early 1900s!

My husband has a collection of postcards that he has put together through the years. We usually display the holiday cards--enjoying the personal messages, bright colors and history held within our hands.

I began by color copying the vintage card...but did not like the outcome...the colors were dull, along with extreme mat finish. I think that I will try to copy a card again soon, using a glossy photo finish paper. In any case, I did use the original card, tucking it into the design without tape or adhesive. I will give this card to my husband, so he will be able to strip it down and add it back to his collection, or keep it decorated as is (he really liked it while I was working on it, so I think he will decide to keep it as is!).

Added touches include a lace flower, created with May Art's Ivory Crochet Lace, available from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. You can see a brief tutorial HERE to see how to create the blossom.

A bow created with May Art's Stitched Satin Ribbon, tied with a Bow Easy (both the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), adds a special touch to the blossom, as well as the May Art's 5/8" Lace borders crossing the design. I cut the stitched ribbon down to make a narrow layer of stitched ribbon to line the lacey border.

What a precious Christmas family scene! Look closely at the village through the window!

Flair Designs "Christmas Carols--Hark! The Harold Angels Sing" decorator paper, rimmed with gold Stickles, peeks out from behind the postcard...both layered over Stampin' Up decorator paper.

A tiny, gold metal angel charm adds a final touch.
I hope that you've enjoyed my design today! Have a wonderful week!
