Framed Oak Leaf

I began with a base of Ranger Water Color Paper. I love using water color paper for cards as it has a heavier weight and slight texture. It really gives a rich look to the card.

I did water color the oak leaf from Stamp Simply's "Give Thanks" stamp set. I first stamped it with Tim Holtz "Pumice" Distress Ink--multiple times using a stamp platform as water color paper has texture and needs to be stamped more than once for a clear and complete image.

I then water colored the leaf, and after drying put the image back on the stamp platform and restamped the leaf using the Pumice distress ink once more. The leaf was then die cut with Stamp Simply's Give Thanks leaf die.

You may notice that the leaf has a "frame" surrounding it. I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Oval dies and die cut the frame shape three times and glued them together for additional heft. Love the additional interest it adds to the design.

The sentiment from the Give Thanks stamp set is stamped directly onto the background using Tim Holtz Distress Pumice ink. Scor-Tape was used as adhesive throughout the design.
